Are you an experienced Workshop Controller looking for your next challenge in a fast-paced, high-volume automotive environment?
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Workshop Controller to join our busy Loughborough dealership, supporting a team of approx. 20 technicians. This is a pivotal role within the aftersales operation, responsible for maximising workshop efficiency, ensuring excellent customer service, and helping to drive productivity across the entire team.
About the Role
As Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of workshop activity, ensuring work is allocated effectively and completed to the highest standards. Working closely with Service Advisors, Technicians, Parts Advisors and management, you will coordinate workloads, monitor progress and ensure customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy dealership environment and has a proven track record in workshop control or a similar automotive aftersales role.
Responsibilities
Allocate and monitor work across a team of approx. 20 technicians.
Ensure workshop loading is optimised to maximise productivity and efficiency.
Manage work in progress and monitor repair times against manufacturer guidelines.
Liaise with Service Advisors to provide updates on vehicle repairs and completion times.
Support technicians in achieving performance and productivity targets.
Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer standards and company procedures.
Maintain effective communication between the workshop, parts department and service team.
Assist in identifying opportunities to improve workshop performance and customer satisfaction.
Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements at all times.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have:
Previous experience as a Workshop Controller or in a similar automotive aftersales management role.
Strong understanding of workshop operations and technician productivity management.
Excellent organisational and planning skills.
The ability to work effectively under pressure in a high-volume environment.
Strong communication and leadership capabilities.
A customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high standards.
Good IT and dealership management system skills.
