Cardiff Volvo, part of the Mon Motors Group, is looking for an ambitious, self-motivated and commercially focused Used Car Manager to take responsibility for the success and day-to-day performance of our Used Car Operation.

This is a key role within the business, with responsibility for maximising used vehicle sales, profitability, stock performance and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be highly organised and process-driven, with the ability to manage and motivate a team while remaining focused on delivering results.

You will take ownership of the used vehicle stock, ensuring it is effectively managed, marketed and presented to the highest possible standard, while maintaining a disciplined approach to stock ageing. Our objective is to maintain an aged vehicle profile of 60 days and under, with proactive action taken to manage vehicles approaching this threshold.

  • Take full responsibility for the performance and success of the Used Car Operation.
  • Lead, manage and motivate the Used Car Sales team, setting clear expectations around activity, performance and customer service.
  • Ensure all customer enquiries are followed up promptly, consistently and effectively, maximising every sales opportunity.
  • Monitor and manage the sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are progressed and converted wherever possible.
  • Deliver a premium customer experience consistent with the Volvo brand and Mon Motors Group standards.
  • Take ownership of used vehicle stock, ensuring vehicles are correctly positioned, priced, marketed and presented to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Maintain a robust 60-day aged stock policy, identifying potential aged vehicles early and taking appropriate action to protect stock turn and profitability.
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager and other departments to ensure the efficient preparation, presentation and sale of used vehicles.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and take appropriate action where performance is below expectation.
  • Ensure agreed processes and procedures are followed consistently across the department.
  • Identify opportunities to improve departmental performance, efficiency and customer experience.
  • Deal confidently with challenges and unexpected situations, using effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Maintain high standards of vehicle presentation, digital merchandising and advertising.
  • Ensure the team remains focused on generating and converting enquiries, rather than simply processing incoming business.
  • Contribute to the achievement of departmental and dealership sales and profitability targets.
  • Liaise directly with Volvo Cars UK to ensure compliance with the Volvo Selekt programme

We are looking for someone who is

  • Self-motivated, driven and commercially focused.

  • An effective people manager who can motivate, develop and hold a team accountable.
  • Highly organised and process driven, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with performance data and using it to identify opportunities and take action.
  • A confident decision-maker who can think on their feet and solve problems effectively.
  • Customer-focused, with a genuine commitment to delivering a premium level of service.
  • Proactive and able to work independently, while also working effectively as part of the wider management team.
  • Resilient and able to operate successfully in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of the importance of stock turn, pricing, margin and aged stock management.
  • A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with customers, colleagues and manufacturer partners.
