Steer Automotive Group is recruiting an experienced MET Technician to join our accident repair centre in Darlington, County Durham.
If you’re currently working as a MET Technician, MET Fitter, Mechanical Electrical Trim Technician, Vehicle Technician or Bodyshop Technician, this is a great opportunity to develop your career within a growing national accident repair group.
You’ll play an important part in the repair process, stripping, diagnosing, repairing and refitting accident-damaged vehicles to a high standard, using modern repair methods, diagnostic equipment and technology.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an MET Technician, your responsibilities will include:
Dismantling and reassembling accident-damaged vehicles safely and efficiently
Removing and refitting mechanical, electrical and trim (MET) components
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out necessary repairs
Inspecting components during strip and identifying additional repair requirements
Working to manufacturer-approved repair methods and quality standards
Using modern diagnostic equipment and vehicle repair technology
Working closely with Panel Technicians, Paint Technicians and the wider bodyshop team
Ensuring repairs are completed safely, accurately and efficiently
Maintaining excellent standards of workmanship throughout every repair
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced technician with a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and trim systems and previous experience within an accident repair centre, bodyshop or similar automotive repair environment.
Your experience may be as a:
MET Technician / MET Fitter
Mechanical Electrical Trim Technician
Vehicle Technician
Bodyshop Technician
Accident Repair Technician
You’ll ideally bring:
Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical and trim systems
Experience stripping and refitting accident-damaged vehicles
Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Excellent attention to detail
A commitment to safe, high-quality vehicle repairs
A positive, professional approach and pride in your workmanship
ATA or IMI accreditation would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
