The Role

We are looking for an experienced High Voltage (HV) Vehicle Repair Battery Engineer to join our growing electric vehicle (EV) technical team.

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing and maintaining high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems, typically operating at 400V–1000V+ DC. You will work across a range of electric and hybrid vehicles, identifying faults and carrying out safe, high-quality repairs in accordance with manufacturer procedures and industry safety standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong electrical and diagnostic experience who wants to develop their career within the rapidly evolving EV sector.

Responsibilities

Diagnose faults within high-voltage EV and hybrid vehicle battery systems.

Safely isolate, de-energise and make HV systems safe before commencing repair work.

Inspect, test and repair lithium-ion battery packs and associated components.

Diagnose issues with battery management systems (BMS), contactors, busbars, cooling systems, wiring and high-voltage connections.

Carry out electrical measurements and diagnostic testing using appropriate specialist equipment.

Identify faulty battery modules, cells and components and replace or repair them where approved procedures allow.

Perform battery pack removal, installation, inspection and reassembly.

Investigate insulation resistance, isolation and high-voltage fault conditions.

Use manufacturer diagnostic systems and technical information to identify and resolve faults.

Complete post-repair testing and verification to ensure vehicles are safe and operating correctly.

Maintain accurate repair records, diagnostic reports and technical documentation.

Follow all HV, electrical, workshop and occupational health and safety procedures.

Keep up to date with evolving EV technology, battery systems, tools and repair techniques.

Support the wider workshop and technical team with complex electrical and diagnostic issues.

About You

You will be a technically capable engineer with experience in vehicle electrical systems and a strong commitment to working safely around high-voltage equipment.

Essential:

Previous experience working with high-voltage vehicle systems, EVs or hybrid vehicles.

Strong understanding of automotive electrical and electronic systems.

Experience diagnosing electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and test instruments.

Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology and battery management systems.

Understanding of HV isolation, safe working procedures and electrical safety principles.

Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams and technical information.

Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to fault diagnosis.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a technical team.

Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

IMI or equivalent EV/HV qualification.

Experience working on battery pack-level repairs.

Experience with battery modules, cells, BMS and thermal management systems.

Manufacturer-specific EV/HV training.

Experience working with vehicles operating at 800V or above.

Previous experience within an EV manufacturer, automotive repair facility, fleet, dealership or specialist EV workshop

Competitive salary

Permanent, full-time employment.

Specialist training and ongoing professional development.

Opportunities to gain further EV and HV qualifications.

Access to specialist HV diagnostic and battery repair equipment.

A modern working environment focused on electric vehicle technology.

Career progression within a rapidly developing technical sector.

Safety & Compliance:

Safety is at the heart of this role. All HV work must be undertaken in accordance with company procedures, relevant legislation, manufacturer instructions and appropriate electrical safety standards. Candidates must be comfortable following formal HV isolation, testing and verification procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment.

If you are an experienced automotive electrical engineer or HV technician looking to build your career in electric vehicle battery repair and high-voltage technology, we would love to hear from you.
